Recreational Coach

Melissa SheffieldCoach Melissa started gymnastics at age 3 and was a competitive gymnast from age 8-18 . As one of her first passions, she has been coaching recreational and team gymnastics for 12 years. Melissa has also coached circus performing at Long Lake Camp for the Arts and partner acrobatics at Cambridge Community Gymnastics in Boston. Melissa’s educational career included a Masters Thesis Project at Emerson College in which she created a "Circus Drama" using live actors to combine traditional circus arts with scripted dialogue and choreography for a unique theatrical experience. 

Before moving to Florida, Melissa spent 3 years teaching high school music and theatre as well as advising the high school drama club, producing 6 main stage shows as director, choreographer, costumer, and music director.  She also directed the middle school competitive show choir.  Outside of the school, she has worked as a free lance choreographer, vocal coach, and director.


Coach Melissa is very excited to bring her enthusiasm and passion fo teaching combined with her expertise with gymnastics and the arts to OrlandoGymnastics!
