Jorge Quiala

Jorge Luis Quiala was born on January 12, 1961 in Havana, Cuba. He  began gymnastics at the age of 7 years old and by age 9 he was a champion for Cuba. Shortly after he was selected onto the Cuban  National Team and remained a National team member for 5 years. Coach Jorge was selected to the 1980 Olympic Team in Moscow, Russia. He is Cuba's most decorated athlete, winning many European events and is a 5 Time National Champion for his country of Cuba.
Jorge Quiala, came to the United Stated in 2000 with a job contract to Coach at Octaviano's Gymnastics. Under Coach Jorge's guidance, Octaviano's Gymnastics won many State and Regional        

Championships in both Men's and Women's gymnastics. A couple of years later, Jorge Quiala and his wife Sonia Arocho opened their own gym, Universal Allstar Gymnastics in Doral, Florida. The very same season, Universal Allstars were the undefeated Champions in every meet they entered in Levels 1-5. Coach Jorge helped his girls to many State, Regional, and National Titles - including training girls to the USA          

Gymnastics TOPS Program and making it to the TOPS National Team.  In 2014, they sold their gym and moved to the Michigan to coach as one of the Head Coaches of Gedderts Twistars Gymnastics, the number one gym in the Nation for Women's  Gymnastics and where Jordyn Weiber trained. Coach Jorge coached girls to TOPS National Team while there and while being the Assistant Head Coach to the Men's Team. He also helped coach many Elite gymnasts including Delanie Harkness  who competed in the US Secret Classic and P & G Championships. Jorge Quiala is also a judge for men's USA gymnastics and is working on becoming a FIG Judge.
Coach Jorge continues to study this ever changing sport to be a better coach for himself and the athletes he trains on a daily basis. He has attended many clinics, received a multitude of certifications through USA Gymnastics' Education program, and much more. He hopes to someday become a coach for an athlete on the USA National, World, and Olympic Teams.

Coach Jorge graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Manuel Fajardo University in Cuba and a Masters Degree in Computer Science  and Cisco Networking at Miami Dade College. He was also a music teacher for one of Cuba's most decorated Schools of Art, La Ena.
