Coach Nelson was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up a gymnast himself. He was a member of the Dominican National Gymnastics Team for 7 years and had international titles on pommel horse. After attending college, he began his coaching career in his home country before deciding to make the move to the United States to coach.Coach Nelson began coaching both men and women's gymnastics for almost 10 years in New England and then chose a warmer climate with a move to Orlando. Since moving to Orlando, he has focused on women's gymnastics—specifically levels 6-10.
Coach Nelson has coached all levels of competitive gymnastics from level 2 through elite gymnasts. He has 30 years of coaching experience and he has helped many athletes achieve Regional and National titles. He has even assisted many in in receiving college scholarships. His favorite events to coach are bars and vault and enjoys using his enthusiasm and hands on coaching style to help athletes achieve their greatest potential.
